Skip the globe

Pull out a U.S. map! I think we're staying on U.S. soil. The list has narrowed slightly... the most likely candidates right now are (in no particular order):
Nebraska, Colorado, Florida, Ohio, Texas, Arizona, Virginia, Louisiana and Hawaii

If we stay in Texas, then our adoption/readoption paperwork won't become the disaster I was anticipating! That would be good news. It would still be a different military base hours away, but it would be the simplest of all possibilities.

DISCLAIMER: This is still the military we're talking about. The information won't be finalized or released until March and even then... last minute spontaneous changes are possible.
Speaking of March, the newest estimate for my first trip to Uzbekistan is now March.

We're in Virginia...right down the road from the AF Base!

Hi Shelley! It would be SO neat to meet you and your family in person. :) If I find out we're headed your direction, you'll be at the top of my e-mail list!

I hope you get the post that works best for you. My dad was stationed in Omaha and he really liked it there.

March is not too far away. The time will go quicker than you think. We had our LOI to Kaz on 2/14 and flew there on 3/09 and it really did go quickly.

My vote is for Hawaii! But something tels me that they don't just hand those out willy nilly:). I bet many families would want to be stationed there.

When does your husband get back?

Selfish me wants you to come to Ohio! Not that I think we live anywhere near a military base... Would that be Dayton? I know you will be moved to exactly where you're supposed to. I can't imagine not knowing! I'm such a planner! March will be here soon,a dn hopefully, at hopefully at least some limbo will be over!!

I'm so sorry all this is happening all at once for you.........Depending on where in Louisiana or Florida though we may not be too far though........certainly driving distance.

This is very reassuring to know that almost anywhere we end up, we'll know someone!

If we end up in Ohio, it will be Dayton; Florida it will be Eglin AFB near Ft. Walton Beach; Louisiana would be Shreveport.

We are hopeful that Mike might come home a little earlier than originally expected. A mid-to-late April return should be realistic!

Thanks everybody! I really appreciate all of the support. It's also nice to see from all of the comments that someone is actually reading all of this "stuff". :)

Dayton is a hike for us, but definitely closer than Texas! I think Valerie might be closer to Dayton. Can you give me a quadrant of Ohio, Dani? We live in the NE.

Hi,
I've really enjoyed reading your blog. I spent a couple of months working at the U.S. Embassy in Tashkent, and I really have a heart for adoptions. I'm helping my aunt and uncle wade through the process; they're interested in checking out Uzbekistan. They're a little stumped on one thing, though - trying to find a qualified, trustworthy facilitator overseas. Do you have any advice about this? Can you point them in the right direction for trying to locate someone?
I'd love to hear from you:
